The Musuem is open from Thursday to Sunday during the Winter and seven days a week during the summer.
The Museum houses two collections. First the artifacts of the Ontario Regiment and the Vehicle collection.
The Museum has more than 140 operational, historical, Military vehicles from WW1 to the Afghanistan conflict. Approximately half are on display at any time.
Museum consists of our Static Gallery containing the history of the Ontario Regiment RCAC, a smaller display area with select vehicles, and the Military Vehicle Conservation Centre – which holds the majrity of our large vehicles.
The Museum is an accredited Canadian Armed Forces Museum.
The Museum is operated by four full time staff and over 220 volunteer members.
The Museum is located on the South field of the Oshawa Executive Airport. During World War 2, this airport was used to train pilots and aircrew as part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Program. Four buildings in the area date from that time.
The Museum satff and membership take care to ensure a safe environment for our visitors. However, the Museum is a working musuem. Please note the following:
Children muste be supervised by guardians/parents at all times.
There is to be no climbing onto or into any of the vehicles.
Please do not touch artifacts in the static section.
If there is vehicle movement, please feel free to observe from a safe distance. Extra care is required to control children and pets. Pay attention to the Museum Staff.
The Museum is a working Museum and there may be maintenance or resatoration activites. These activites can be VERY loud. Please be mindful of the effect that lound noises may hae on visitors especially children and pets.
Failure to abide by these safety rules will result in being asked to leave the Museum.
There is no Food or Drink at the Museum on regular days.
There are picnic tables on the Museum grounds. There are also dining options on Stevenson Rd just south of the Museum.
During event days, our partners at the 420 Wing will provide both Food and Drink. They are L.L.B.O. There will be food options available during Aquino Tank Weekend.
Photography and video is allowed at the Museum for personal use only, unless prior approval is obtained.
Photography with flash and video recording are allowed in the vehilcle areas including the Tank Arena with hand-held equipment Flash photography and Video Lights are not allowed in the Static Section in order to preserve the artifacts.
Selfie sticks, tripods, monopods, etc. are not allowed.
In general, pets and service animals are allowed at the Museum.
However during event days, There will be crowds, loud vehicle movement, and other loud noises. It is expected that animals that attend be socialized to both crowds and loud noises.
Owners are 100% reposnsible for their animals. If you are not completely confident in your animal, please do your animal a favour and leave them at home.
