Sponsorship of Interactive Exhibit Enhance North America’s Largest Operational Tank Event
Oshawa, Ontario, 2 March 2026 — The Canadian Tank Museum, which houses North America’s largest collection of operational historical military vehicles, has received an incredible boost to its annual and internationally attended event, Aquino Tank Weekend. The popular online tank warfare-themed game World of Tanks Modern Armor, developed by Wargaming, has signed a two-year sponsorship agreement to promote and support this event.
World of Tanks Modern Armor is the console-exclusive version of the World of Tanks franchise, available on PlayStation and Xbox gaming consoles. World of Tanks Modern Armor is free-to-play and features tanks based on existing vehicles from the 20th century. This partnership is perfect as many of the vehicles preserved in the Canadian Tank Museum can be found in the game, allowing players to interact with them via 15-v-15 online multiplayer battles.
“The relationship between Wargaming and the Canadian Tank Museum spans many years, and we’re thrilled to once again be part of Aquino Tank Weekend,” said Brian Clayton, Product Director for World of Tanks Modern Armor. “We’re excited for attendees to not only experience these legendary tanks up close, but also to step into the commander’s seat in our game.”

In addition to sponsoring the annual Aquino Tank Weekend event, Wargaming is investing in an entirely new “World of Tanks Modern Armor Experience” exhibit at the Museum allowing visitors to enjoy the game in a museum environment. Attendees can get up close with the tanks and military vehicles in the Museum, then command them on a virtual battlefield in-game, merging education and entertainment to attract a wider audience to the important historical subject matter.
“The financial support that sponsorship brings to our events allows us to enhance the visitor experience and reach a wider audience,” said Executive Director Jeremy Neal Blowers. “World of Tanks Modern Armor has a large global presence, and through this partnership more people around the world will be exposed to what our museum has to offer. We are very excited to be working with the console team and happy to continue our relationship with Wargaming.” The World of Tanks Modern Armor exhibit will open in time for the March school break in Ontario and will be available for visitors to enjoy year-round. Total sponsorship and investment in the new exhibition is in excess of $50,000 for the period.
