| IMPORTANT UPDATE: AQUINO TANK WEEKEND 2020 CANCELLED With great sadness, The Museum has made the difficult decision not to go ahead with AQUINO Tank Weekend 2020 in September as planned. The event was postponed until September at a time when the longer-term impact the Coronavirus would have on our lives was yet to be fully appreciated. We have concluded that it would be impossible to operate an event of the size and scale of AQUINO safely in September – and that it would not be responsible to try given the current situation and the restrictions on gathering sizes. It is impossible to provide the level of action and engagement for so few visitors and keep the event financially viable. AQUINO Tank Weekend is not only our largest event, it is our biggest annual fundraiser. We want all our visitors to feel safe and secure – and we want to be able to guarantee the best possible experience. During 2020, we don’t feel confident we can deliver on these crucial aspects with all the necessary safeguards in place. Much like other Canadian museums, the Ontario Regiment RCAC Museum has been closed to the public from March 20 – and at present; there is little indication to suggest that we will be able to host any major events in the near future. Further updates to events will be posted closer to the date as we continue to monitor the situation.. AQUINO Tank Weekend – SEPTEMBER 19 – 20 2020 – CANCELLED AQUINO Tank Weekend is our museum’s annual signature event and our most important fund-raising event of the year. Cancellation is difficult to say the least. There is so much planning, work, and organization that we do with our members, partners, and supporting organizations to put on AQUINO; but we also realize how it affects our supporters. With a large amount of tickets already purchased, this is not something we could ever have imagined having to do. But given these extraordinary circumstances we feel this is the only option due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. All AQUINO Tank Weekend 2020 tickets will be automatically transferred and valid for the corresponding new dates in 2021, aligning with the day(s) your existing tickets were booked for. These circumstances are beyond what any of us could have predicted. As stated, your AQUINO Tank Weekend Tickets will be valid on all the new dates in 2021 automatically. But, if you can’t make any of the new dates we can offer the following: – Option 1: Turn your unused tickets into a donation and receive a Tax Deductible receipt from our Museum: This outbreak is set to be devastating to the arts, culture and heritage industry. Showing your support for our Museum in this way will play a major part in helping us navigate what is the biggest crisis we have faced in our history. – Option 2: A Refund of your Tickets minus the processing fees which are non-recoverable by the Museum. Our Terms and Conditions are that all tickets are non-refundable but given these extraordinary circumstances we will make an exception. Please note it may take as long as six weeks to process refunds under these unprecedented circumstances. We hope that much like us and our members, you can understand this is an unprecedented situation and we hope we can all safely return to our museum for an incredible event in 2021. However, if you cannot and wish to exercise one of the options above; please contact us (info@tankmuseum.ca) before 1700 hrs on 11 September 2020.
