The “Arrival”

The Ontario Regiment RCAC Museum has welcomed the Staghound to her temporary home for restoration and maintenance.

Matt Rutledge, the Museum Operations Manager, made the trip to CFB Petawawa on 24-25 January 2019 to meet with the RCD HVT (Royal Canadian Dragoons Historical Vehicle Troop). This handover meeting ensured that the ORM (Ontario Regiment RCAC Museum) had all relevant information regarding the condition of the Staghound. Matt was also trained on operation of the vehicle, received a short drivers course and was toured around the maintenance bay of the RCD.

On the morning of 25 January 2019, Al from Hardco arrived with the flatbed and loaded the Staghound for transport.

Arrival into the Oshawa area was captured by Michael Wong of MCW Photography – excellent timing to catch her on the 401 West Bound!

The evening of the 25 January 2019 saw the Staghounds entry into the MVCC (Military Vehicle Conservation Center) at the ORM.

On the morning of 26 January 2019, Don White (served with the RCD in the Second World War) arrived and discussed the Staghound of which we served on. (Images coming soon).

The volunteer team at the ORM have begun initial triage of the vehicle and compiling a list of restoration and maintenance tasks to send to the RCD HVT for review.

We look forward to welcoming the HVT of the RCD to the Museum. Not only to provide updates on the status of the vehicle but to show off the rest of our historical operational collection.
